Had a little mako about 15-20kg come up or berkley trail when I was fishing for flatties in 30-40 m of water between flinders/ cape schank, after our dive. Perhaps this is a good sign for the t
upcoming season

Well that's not correct, as every fish fights different.

Seen and heard stories of big Gummys stripping 200m of line in one run. Yet, another big Gummy may not fight anywhere near aswell.

True every fish is different but they have strong common traits.

I'd take a 20kg flatty too frozenpod.

every one ive ever caught went absolutely bananas, i reckon frozenpod needs to stick to his 20lb leaders.

ive seen think big get a few around that mark.

ive caught one about 30 and several in the high 20's.

I have only caught on that was 20kg plus (few in the 15-20kg), fish went 25kg slightly longer than my arm span estimated 185cm and it was very sedate.

The other larger but not monster gummies I have noticed similar trait whilst having greater stamina they don't have the same level of speed, and excitement that the mid sized ones do.

A 5kg snapper fights completely different to a 1kg pinky too but I know what is rather have on the end of my line.

A 5kg snapper also fights differently to a 10kg snapper.

These days if I was using gear matched to the size of the fish I would rather catch a 1kg snapper than a 5kg or 10kg.

Each to there own.
