Post by fisho999 » Thu Jun 16, 2022 9:27 am

hey

can i use normal pliers to crimp wire leaders? or do i need to buy an actual crimping tool?

thinking of doing some shark and big fish land based fishing for an upcoming trip (hopefully).

I'd say use crimping tool.
Imagine you finally hooked on one and pop! Bye bye sharkie coz the crimp fails.

Definitely use crimping pliers. The surface area crimped is most of the crimp itself, whereas using wire cutters-the surface of contact is minimal.
I got mine from Bunnings for about $30 and they are awesome.
