just wait till you blokes hit 50 i used to use a crappy petzil 2 AAA head light it was good for about 30'

now the h14 is just enough for fishing and navigating the channels , a 1000 l on flood realy ain't all that

bright on spot that's another thing that's good for shooting out to 250 yards as well so a very versatile light.

better the have it and not need it than need it and not have it just like all you fishos that use braid that

out rates your rods by quite a margin hey .

I'm 49 this year mate. Still don't use the high beam on mine. As Brett said, unnecessary, (unless you want to burn someone's retinas out).

its more to spot squid from the pier, i mainly fish from finders so the extra bright light helps

I'm intrigued, are you spotting the squid before casting to them?

I suggest you read the technology behind 18650 batteries before deciding to buy one of these headlamps ... this type of battery needs more care when charging because of the high output.

I do the same, a good headlamp will pierce the water column good enough to see any squid in the vicinity when retrieving your jig. I've done well sight casting at squid when other fishos wouldn't /couldn't see them.

Yeah was seeing if anyone used the petzel nao, but i think i'm leaning towards the lenser h14r

I checked for the petzl but it's a little bix expensive as per their features,

I got some other reviews to take right for me, I haven't decided yet!
But I think I'll go for the Fenix HL60R and its looking super with red and white lite with different mode!

I have been using the boruit rj3000 for about 3yrs cant fault it purchased of ebay cheap as chips lots of seller,s sell them but i bought off the guy that sell,s them to them if that makes sense

Yeah, sight casting the squid at night can be pretty fun, sometimes though you'll find the squid get timid around a high lumen beam. They much prefer to sit in the dark with thier great eyesight looking towards the illuminated water.

I'm a little biased towards Olight since it's mainly what we used when I was at Emergency Management Vic, between the six or so Olight purchases I've made all have been outstanding quality.
