"This time of year"
Bowl's reply to my post (this time of year I'd look for gars) got me thinking.
We all have or at least heard of people saying it, but either we don't follow or we have our own preferences.
So what is your usual target fish?
Be interesting to share and see what the others usual targets.
Me:
Dec-Feb (summer): river trout, pinkie, flatty. Occasionally bass, murray cod and yellowbelly.
Mar-May(autumn): river trout, bream, snapper, squid. Maybe flatty too.
June-Aug (winter): lake trout, aussie salmon on surf, squid.
Sept-Nov (spring): lake trout, snapper, squid.
Landbased during rough weather, and kayak when it's nice and calm.

Re: "This time of year"
Usual targets for me are normally squid, I do enjoy my EGI game.
N winds have kept it pretty quiet on the squid front.
Keen to diversity once this weather gets a bit better, enjoyed chasing salmon early winter and after stocking up on plastics - keen to chase them again + trevs + flatties.

Re: "This time of year"
Never caught or targeted luderick before. I thought it's more like NSW thing.
How do you do it?
Is it like off the rocks with seaweed as bait like they do in NSW?

Re: "This time of year"
Yes off the rocks with seaweed
There's reasonable numbers there and black drummer as well at the rocks near the entrance, both species pull hard especially the drummer head straight for the bottom
There's luderick available in Queenscliff harbour, have caught a couple about 15 years ago
