help

Post by fisho999 » Sat May 21, 2022 4:44 pm

i have this rod combo

https://www.anacondastores.com/fishing/ ... 0753-black

i have 9 kilo mono on it, it only fits about 50-100 metres on it

it tangles if i cast it not even hard so i have to do short, powerless casts

i have heard braid is the way to go. could someone please give me advice, i will be using it for cod and yella but i also will be jigging off piers.

thanks,

Take the 9kg off and load it with 6kg mono and learn how to cast properly before you put braid on it . You need to adjust the casting drag and thumb the spool for over run and apply extra pressure to prevent over runs .When you are confident with mono then change to braid

Go down to 6lb braid and leader that way you wont have to loosen the brakes so much, it's a 4kg outfit, so 8lb would be as heavy as i would go

Buy some Dangan Braid from Anaconda. 12lb has a PE rating of 0.6 which means it is very thin, much thinner than the J braid and much better quality
