Suggestions for Phillip Island

Post by Sebb » Mon Nov 29, 2021 8:12 pm

Mrs and I are going to Phillip Island for the weekend, staying in Rhyll.
I'm looking for something less crowded to fish with the mrs (so Cowes pier is definitely out).
Something like to sit and relax during the afternoon/evening, maybe just bait fish while eating snacks and drinks on a camping chair.
Where, what gear, etc.
TIA

Thanks guys.
I have never done squid fishing off a beach. I'm guessing it's still the same setup? Long rod, squid spike, float. 1m under float?

Ok cool
I'll bring two setups.
11ft rod for squid. 1m under float you reckon?
And a 9ft medium light rod for whiting.

Just a shitty old glass surf rod is the go for the squid, a squid spike plus bait weighs a bit and you don’t want to snap the tip of a lighter rod trying to cast too much weight.

Ok.
Not sure where I kept my old glass 13ft 12kg surf rod, but I have 11ft heavy graphite surf rod (12kg rod). Hopefully not gonna break it.
