Definently good news.

The state government definently copped it hard between Friday and yesterday with all these changes from their very recent harsher stances...
It pretty much didn't matter what they decided someone was going to have a problem with it.

Honestly I thought school wouldn't go back at full capacity until term 3. Will go for a fish tomorrow in the most isolated spot I know and I might even go have a look at Mornington Jetty on Sunday to see just how many flogs are out there.

I'm teaching casually at the moment so I can keep teaching BJJ in the evenings. So whatever they give me on the day really. Usually they tell me i've got English / History and when I rock up they've changed their minds and now i'm teaching grade 6 PE or something. I don't really mind, it keeps things interesting, but i'm definitely not built for long jump....or any jump really. I'm either running around covering random lessons or getting whole days of VCE English / lit / language and History.

so do you do different grades as well, or only a certain grade group and then do whatever subject your asked.
be interesting going from preps to like year 10 for example. whole different level of skills needed.

I cover whatever is leftover by someone who's not at work that day, which with teachers, is everyday. I'm pretty versatile because I have a couple of different degrees and a lifetime of experience doing martial arts and outdoor stuff, i'm in a much better position to take Yr11 VCAL for example than a bubbly 22yo who thinks Hermione is black. I get lots of relief work because I don't really mind what they give me, and prefer yard duty to hanging out in a staffroom listening to teachers talk. With a properly prepared lesson anything short of specialised maths or a language I don't speak I can fake my way through for long enough to get the lesson completed, and if I can't I just set the classroom up so that they teach each other, or make them teach me the content so I learn something as well.

I actually much, much prefer this job to a full time teaching gig cos I get to go lots of places and meet lots of new people, learn things about cultures and dont' have work to take home. 330pm i'm out the door, home, change shower and on the mat at Absolute by 5 without stressing about the 4 hours of marking / parents ringing me / lesson preparation etc.

I'm aiming to go out in the evenings. I suspect the likes of Mornington and Mordialloc -- the bigger, more popular piers -- will be crazy, with people going for squid shoulder-to-shoulder, or gathering with their families and rocking out four rods per head. Not to mention all the extra people walking up and down the pier. I'll stick to my quieter spots.

EDIT

I work as a teacher as well, and suspect the next few weeks -- heck, the rest of the year -- will be very interesting.
