Do you even need to carry both on you anymore? Honest questionStumpjumper wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 10:34 amWell it does usually hold your boat and fishing license. Leaving your wallet in the car seem pretty dumb to me and only encourages the arseholes that like to break into cars.
I always hide my wallet under my seat or somewhere semi safe. Never had my car broken into..
Maybe I’m a little naive but IMO it seems safer in my car than risking dropping it overboard, which happens A LOT from what I’ve heard.
Either way, what seems dumb to you may not be as dumb for someone else, including these poor souls.

It has not happened to me yet, believe it or not. As far as I’m aware it’s not illegal to either fish or operate a vessel without the license on you either, as long as you can prove who you are.purple5ive wrote: ↑Mon Apr 13, 2020 10:52 amWhat do you do when you get pulled over for I'd on the water?

You must carry your boat licence with you when you are on the water I got cautioned for not having it a few years back.my boat has a glove box 1st thing prior to leaving the pier wallet car keys and phone get put in just in case 2 phones have gone for a swim off my boat.Kimtown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 1:59 amIt has not happened to me yet, believe it or not. I dont know what the big fuss it, I never take my wallet with me onboard. I just leave my boat license in my boat glovebox.

I pretty much do the same. I have an Abu Garcia messenger bag that is somewhat water proof that slides in beside my seat. I keep my wallet and keys and usually have some fishing books in there (fish ID, charts etc).
The amount of times i have tied up at the dock and started walking back to my car only to realise i have left the car keys in my bag on the boat.....
If i upgrade to a hand held VHF i will be installing a glove box where my current 27mhz radio is installed to hold my wallet and stuff.
The only thing better than serenity is a two stroke at full throttle!

Good to know, different to car license then as it’s not mandatory to carry that once you’re over the age of 26.Nude up wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 7:08 amYou must carry your boat licence with you when you are on the water I got cautioned for not having it a few years back.my boat has a glove box 1st thing prior to leaving the pier wallet car keys and phone get put in just in case 2 phones have gone for a swim off my boat.Kimtown wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 1:59 amIt has not happened to me yet, believe it or not. I still think I’ll be keeping the wallet in the car and just bring my boat license with me. Seems safer still to me.

The copper told me to leave my boat licence in the boat you don’t need it any where else.
