Each to their own. I'm the only person I know that doesn't like golf.
Something I've learnt about introducing people to fishing, make it short and sweet. Give them just a taste (an hour or 2), provide a few nibbles and refreshments & be a good host. Nothing worse than going out with a seasoned angler that keeps telling you to be quite and refuses to compromise if the weather gets nasty etc.
Like most drugs, it takes a while until your addicted.
I heard about the activity called gold but no way I'm hitting small balls around all day
Definitely wasn’t the sport for me.
Every time I would hit the ball it would curve

Don't like golf, but can certainly appreciate the nuances, strategy and constant adaptation of 'foundations' based on ever changing variables thats required to be good at it. Lots of conceptual similarities to fishing imo.

Oddly only been asked even when fishing very busy places, at most i get a 'whats caught around here' or 'what bait are you using' and these are always those from overseas and vary rare to have a local ask, and my response is always the same
For whats caught,
bream
flathead
happy moments (black rabbit fish they can and will cause pain for hours)
whiting
For what bait
prawn
squid
blood worms
have seen some people use mullet guts
chicken (bream are odd and love it)
As for the one time the question came up: so i can lose weight and build muscle im my arms i dare you to fight a fish with 0 percent gearing (i use alvey reels that are basicly a 1:1 ratio i dont need any fancy gearing unless lure fishing even then its rare i use that rod.)

Sounds like your hanging out with the wrong crowd...99% of the people I talk to ask if they can come with me next time I go out (mind you I'm quite handsome, so that could be a factor).
Same
Except replace the word quite with extremely

Most people I know love fishing. Kind of ties in well with all the other bogan aussie activies, like drinking, camping, hunting etc.
So yeah, guess all my mates are bogans lol

“Get xxxxed you cxxx”
“Get of the couch you fat xxxx”
“Keep talking like that I’ll put your head through that wall you cxxx”
Bit hard to say that to your boss mate lol
Lol
Yeah don't think can say that to work colleagues
Not as hard as you think....
But some people just don’t have thick skins.

Hi all,
Do you get a lot of stereotyping responses when you say something like I like fishing, I go fishing, I do fishing now instead of football and everything else along the line.
The usual responses are a big laugh, fishing is for lazy people, so what you just sit there and do nothing, etc...
9 out of 10 those people dont fish. As much as I want to understand them, it also pisses me off... these blinded people who knows nothing about fishing, yet they're throwing words.
I remember I was picking up a mate to go fishing on a nice day, saw his housemate and asked politely if he'd want to joing. His response was "naahh... Fishing is for lazy people, you guys just gonna sit there all day doing nothing", ironically he said that while sitting on a couch eating chips drinking coke in front of a TV. In my head was like "who's the lazy a$$??"
My usual response : "I go fishing to avoid people like you" :water:
Don’t sweat the small stuff Seb, at least you know that your fishing expeditions are active ones. Think about it this way: if everyone in Victoria loved fishing as much as many on this site do there would be a lot less fish out there for you to catch. I say let that lazy arse catch **** all from the couch
