Regarding your phone tracking. In a recent search for a missing yacht we were given the location of where the mobile phone went off to centre our search on. That says it all. Where you are is available to authorities even if you say no to all the apps when they request to use your location. It just needs data from the towers that are pinging your phone.
The gov tracing app doesn't even use that it just sends a unique code on blue tooth to other phones that are withing range for more than 15 minutes. It then stores this ID code for 21 days. This enables medical people to quickly ID anyone who comes close to a confirmed case. Simples. no tracking it doesn't give a stuff where you are, your phone could be out of range of a tower and it still works.
I won't be venturing out until this app is up and running with 40% plus using it. Remember it only takes one person in this country with corona virus to start it all up again, unless we have in place systems to limit the spread. I see this app as a way of getting some of our freedoms back. Not something that takes our freedom away.

Oh... poor Stompjumper!
I’m new here so I’m guessing your little rant is just a joke.
Can you explain to us dumb arses what ‘communist’ and ‘republic’ mean and how they relate in any way at all to our State?
Well you must be new to Victoria too, not to have noticed what's going on. The state has shut down your jobs, ordered you under house arrest, can't go out unless for approved reason, Police can enter your house without warrant to enforce social distancing rules, no more than 2 people can gather, Chairman Dan suspends parliament....no oversight or democratic process, can't go to church, can't visit friends or relatives, can't go to the pub etc etc. Whenever the list of what you can't do is 100 times longer than the list of what you can do, smells like Socialist/Communist wet dream to me.

It has now moved a little closer to home for us. Our daughter in Tassie is a registered nurse. She often runs a ward or nursing home when on shift. Has been taking lots of extra shifts as her husband works in the fitness industry and is out of work.
Just let us know she has some symptoms and has been sent for tests. Fingers crossed. Hope she is ok and hope another Tassie hospital doesn't get shut down. She has done the right thing, reported it as soon as she felt unwell and cancelled her shift.

Surprised they aren’t routinely testing frontline health workers given people can spread it while asymptomatic or presymptomatic.

I hope you get some good news and it’s all clear.

Hope it's just a upper respiratory infection or something like that and it's not the real deal. Fingers crossed for the family mike.
Cheers

Apparently you can have it for a couple of days before the test picks it up. It has to have time to incubate. They are just introducing a new testing protocol in Tassie as they expand their testing.

there's a upper respiratory infection going around, mild symptoms like body aches, fatigue, nasal blockage and coughing. probably some sort of rhinovirus, a few family members of mine had it and were concerned.

It depends on the type of testing. There's two types, reagent and antibody testing. Reagent is more reliable, can indicate infection at any stage but is in limited supply and takes longer. Antibody testing was recently introduced but falls short because of the period in which you can be positive but antibody tests will not detect anything, by which if you are symptomatic it will be obvious you are infected anyways.
