I managed to take a younger (25 yrs younger) bloke than me fishing several years ago who was very much like what you said Seb, he started whinging after a kilometre walk to the river.. Then after an hour in it he said he'd had enough he was buggered..So I told him he could walk back to the car & wait for me while I fished on which he did do & I fished on for another four hours.. He never came again and never said a thing about fishing being a lazy sport on the drive home.. Haven't seen or heard from him for a very long time.. :a_goodjob:

cheers

Hi all,

Do you get a lot of stereotyping responses when you say something like I like fishing, I go fishing, I do fishing now instead of football and everything else along the line.
The usual responses are a big laugh, fishing is for lazy people, so what you just sit there and do nothing, etc...

9 out of 10 those people dont fish. As much as I want to understand them, it also pisses me off... these blinded people who knows nothing about fishing, yet they're throwing words.

I remember I was picking up a mate to go fishing on a nice day, saw his housemate and asked politely if he'd want to joing. His response was "naahh... Fishing is for lazy people, you guys just gonna sit there all day doing nothing", ironically he said that while sitting on a couch eating chips drinking coke in front of a TV. In my head was like "who's the lazy a$$??"

My usual response : "I go fishing to avoid people like you" :water:
Fishing is for the opportunity to get away from the issues of the world and enjoy times with mates
For sure mate. The amount of times I’ve had a bad day and go for a fish with a mate and come home feeling so much better :P
True That mate

Hahaha nice.
Yeah, most people that throw those words usually dont fish or never fished before.
They make funny faces when I say I walk few kilometres in and out river gorge etc when fly fishing.

True.
Or they think I'm lying... (Remember, they think fishing is sitting doing nothing). Lol.

Its good to hear that few people here is saying the same thing that fishing is some sorta therapy. To relax, calm self down, the reset button, a getaway from daily routine. Its all true.
