Looking for a picture of an "extended paternoster"
I'm pulling my hair out searching for what an extended paternoster is. Seems to be recommended for Whiting quite a lot.
Tried Google and Youtube searching but can only find info like, "We use an extended paternoster". No actual descriptions or images of what one is.

I think it means the dropper is longer. I might be wrong though.

Re: Looking for a picture of an "extended paternoster"
I used to recall it being when you have a Paternoster rig but the sinker goes down to a swivel so it is free running and then you add a second hook to the bottom of the sinker swivel, usually about 2ft long. You end up with a hook above the sinker and one below the sinker line a running sinker rig

Re: Looking for a picture of an "extended paternoster"
Running paternoster is a running sinker but with a much longer sinker lead.
Extended paternoster may be a standard paternoster with longer hook leads - this is what I have used for whiting before.

Nothing more than a standard paternoster with 30-45cm hook leads instead of the usual 15-20cm lengths

Here you go.
Left is the 'normal' paternoster and the right is the 'extended'.

Re: Looking for a picture of an "extended paternoster"
Hey denis, with a 2 mtr leader how do you handle the fish when the sinker has hit the rod ? there would be lots of loose leader at boat side for the fush to run around with ? maybe ok with long rods but short rods would be a pain ? ...denis barden wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 5:28 am
