Barwon River KGW
For some strange reasons, I have not seen any KGW in the Barwon River in the last 2 years. I have no idea what happened to them. Can someone shed some light on this topic please?

Re: Barwon River KGW
I found 1 about 2 months ago, approx 37cm nice fat fish. but yes there used to be heaps about 2 years ago, mostly small but you could get 3 or 4 to take home.
There was a blue-green algae issue last year, but not sure what effect that would have on them. I would say that the constant raping of the sea by the commercial guys especially around Corio bay last year would have a lasting effect on numbers. Also most fishermen really like catching them so the pressure on this finite resource is increasing. The Barwon is full of Mullet, Small roughys and salmon atm. mostly undesirables as you can see there are heaps of them because not many people want to eat them.

Without these KGW in the river, my targeted fish are getting bigger & in greater numbers. I'll be fishing this river for many many more years.
I'm hoping to break a few more PBs.

I've noticed this too. I found that the best time to target KGW in the Barwon river is when the turn of the tide is around the same time as sunset and preferably little or no wind. But recently, there has been not many at all.
