Slimy mackerel is right up there in my list of favourites. Grilled with lemon and pepper, or Japanese style aged and marinated in rice wine vinegar. Only problem is finding them. Looking to get a young fella onto some fish without him getting bored and turned off fishing for a good mate who keen to get him fishing. Gobbleguts. Never tried using them as bait but my guess is probably not worth it because it's not a very oily fish. Edible but also not worth the effort at that size.

Heaps of options at the Bemm, but not many land based. Most of the system is very shallow <2m but there will be fish in the shallowest of spots. It also depends if the mouth has been opened to the ocean and when it was last opened - generally fishes better after a few weeks of it opening. Check with...

Still there at ppb. Bagged out today on pinkies in 12m, all within 1 hour before high tide. Nothing too big, a few 40+ most mid 30s and they were hitting hard
