Rhyll

Went out from Rhyll for the grand final weekend in search of a big red.

Caught dozens of couta, and a couple of flathead and one 23cm red.

Water temp was 14.1-14.4 deg C.

Saw one good red caught in a nearby boat and 2 back at the ramp, hoping to get out next weekend to try again.

Re: 3 year ban in SA

SA ban is nothing short of terrible. Everything I have seen indicates this is a band aid short sighted approach that will not address the root cause of the problem. Re vic snapper as has been found the key to snapper population is successful spawn and fishing has minimal if any impact on spawning. W...

GF weekend at JB

Having cracked it hard at the footy I took off to JB early Weds morning with a view to getting a couple of decent sessions on one of the front ledges then at the Tubes. After 11 sets of roadwork, 4 accidents, a grass fire and pulling two junkies apart that were swinging at each other in the Gundy ma...

Re: 3 year ban in SA

I'm all for upping the size limit to 35cm and a no take policy during spawning. But as already suggested. Keeping the environment they live and spawn in pristine condition is key.. and I must say vicfisheries are certainly putting in a lot of effort so good on them.. On another note.. Doesnt the fi...

Paynesville report

I went out from Paynesville today to see if there were any duskies around. There was only 1 other trailer in the car park when I launched the boat at 8.30 am so I did not get my hopes up that there was a hot bite going on. The water temp was 15.5 C which I think is still too cold. Tries all my usual...

Snapper West Beach

My nephew was keen to get some Snapper before the 3 year Snapper Ban starts next week, so Monday arvo was the go. Brother in-law, Nephew a myself trundled off to West Beach to a 4 - 5 km spot to see if we could get him some Snapper. We made a judgement call to go to a spot that we knew there were so...
