Took my granddaughter out for a fish. I drove the boat and she fished. Trolled around the entrance. There was a massive patch of large salmon on the western side. Three fish on board in 20 minutes. Lost a few hook ups. Three was enough so left the patch for others. She is a champ. Fought them and la...

Re: Salmon at Lakes Entrance.

Lakes offshore charters. I was helping out. Granddaughter came along as apprentice. 2adults, five kids fishing :o_0: It was a very busy day for me, baiting untangling. Kids all caught at least one fish.

Re: Do we over fish the snapper?

Probably the easiest fish to catch out of Lakes Entrance. They have a huge area to live and breed and only a very small commercial catch quota. You will find that some years they are quiet in a particular area but that is because they are somewhere else. Fishing has always been about the right place...

Re: Protecting our GPS Marks and Fishing Spots from others

Happy to give people my marks. The more spots that are known the more scattered the boats. If you had my 300 odd marks you have to decide which spot is the best place to go on the day. I have an idea because of experience. To a new person it is a lottery.

Re: GPS troubles

OK, first run them at home for a bit to make sure they haven't just been a bit confused after the date roll over and getting moved quite a distance while off. While doing that you would need to save your marks to an SD card if they have that facility. The lowrance should. If you buy another lowrance...

Re: Bar crossing goes wrong

In the vid, simple, should not have been there. If you are going out to recreational fish. Never go if conditions are a bit dodgy, you are going for fun. Smashing out through breakers isn't fun. Don't do it. Regarding pro divers and fishers there is some commercial pressure, this leads to occasional...

Re: Bar crossing goes wrong

At coastguard Lakes Ent we practice crossing through breakers, most training days. Firstly we have vessels that are self draining and buoyant enough to survive a deckload of water. Your average rec boat is neither. The basic method used is the same for all three vessels. Jetski, RIB and 3100 Noosaca...
