Re: Surprised at how "dead" this forum is.

The forum is still ok but it does seem a bit quieter than the days of Bugatti, born to fish & p5. Same happened to MtFisho.com too Well, the bloke behind Mr Fisho did die, so that kind of put a dampener on things there. As for here, only takes a few richard heads to make it not worth venturing on a...

Shimano raider or revolution rod with Shimano Caius reel be a much better combo than that. Few more $$ though ofc.

Great report Ducky

That dark EP on your original post is awesome know that estuary well..
Yeah that was a good one. Belted a cast deep up a feeder under some cover and it was taken after the first wind. Love it when a risky cast pays off.

Re: Docks and Ponds

The old guy's name is Pete. He's been around for at least 20 years that I know of, very funny guy...on the right day.

He often puts on a fluoro top and directs traffic around Docklands, just for a bit of fun. He's caused some huge traffic jams over the years.

Re: what are your thoughts on introduced 'pest' species?

Everything has pros and cons.
To me, carp in Aus got more cons than pros.
At least redfin is good eating and a lot of people like to catch and eat them. People then buy lures, bait, go boating etc to catch reddies.
Similar with trout, fly fishing in Aus is pretty big because there's trout here.

Re: what are your thoughts on introduced 'pest' species?

Kill them all imo, native fish pull just as hard and there's bound to be something native that tastes as good as trout or redfin. Yeah for sure. But some suburban lakes there’s really no viable native angling target. Especially man made lakes. Trout just sell lures, grow fast and taste alright. Tha...
