Are you using braid? If so how many lbs is it? 😊
yeah its 20lb braid, ive tried 8lb mono and 30lb braid but nothing
Read the rod spec, it should tell you the ideal casting weight. Pick the matching line too and you should be able to cast nicely.

Re: Casting out far with light jig heads

I use a 1-3 kg rod paired with a 2500 reel spooled with 4 lb braid and 6 lb fluoro leader. I have a size 1000 reel that I spool with 4 lb braid aswell and it flies when ajing. Mad fun, also surprisingly solid if you hook a decent fish, just don't grab the line with your hand to lift fish because it ...

The hardcore breamsexuals around here would probably go with 6-8lb braid and lighter fluorocarbon leader.
18lb braid and 4-6lb leader. It's the diameter of the braid not the breaking strain that counts ;-)

Re: Any places?

Those are great places. Just try to target diff fish with diff rigs.
E.g. Aussie salmon and garfish. They are common fish to target in winter. Bream is all year round.

Re: Any places?

A great target would be just the carp. Heaps pf places you can target them and relatively easy to catch. Find your local pond and get stuck into them. Will fight way better than most other things you would catch landbased around here, especially at this time of the year. :tu: yeah I was going to go...

Re: Any tips for cherry lake?

The carp there are always on the move, often along the edges. You'd be surprised how shallow even the big carp will come. Tomorrow (Saturday) is reasonably overcast so you should be able to sight them. Softs and lures have never worked for me there, but unweighted corn under a float mid water works ...

Re: Any tips for cherry lake?

Unweighted bread is also a good one, if you roll it into a ball you can still get a bit of distance on your cast. Unweighted worms are killer as already mentioned.
