Not your ordinary Kayak questions - advice needed please

Hi all , I've just bought myself a Hobie Compass kayak (yet to pick it up) and i have a few queries i was hoping someone could give me guidance on , 1.I'm car topping it on a Mazda CX 5 , would you think it would be necessary to have a tie down from the bow of the kayak to somewhere under the bonnet...

I agree with both Mazman and Sebbs advice. Personally I prefer the Scotty rod holders, I have found them to be very rigid and easy to adjust. I have had a ram style holder slip downward when getting a run from a large snapper, nearly pulling the rod out of the holder once the holder angled downward...

What Sebb said about the circle hooks , Unless things have changed at Mornington in the last year or so? I'd say you would want to use a 1.8,2.5 sized jig as the squid there (at least on the inside of the pier ) are a bit on the small size.

Mordialloc Fishing Report

Hi all, I got a bit of a fishing report for yas, I went down to Mordialloc Pier this afternoon not to fish, but just to suss out what was going on... Thanks Sebb & Tim for the sound advice, really appreciate it ! I've decided to go with the full length pulley system, and the anchor to chain / line with the float and carbiner to clip onto the pulley system. I'm keen to get it done now,i really want go for some KGW and pinkies/snappers not too far ...
