Re: Land base from the pass

I think ludericks are darker in colour and grows alot bigger than zebra fish. They look almost identical but the zebras have less stripes and has more of a white pale stripes than a ludericks. But I do believe that those in my photo are ludericks and not zebras. I could be wrong but I'm sure others ...

Re: Budget high speed spin reel ($80 - $120) for casting metal?

Sooo did you buy a reel? Haha Haha not yet, waiting for mrs approval. Also, still deciding between Sedona 4000 or Elite Max 40. Both are $99 at the moment. Watched YouTube videos and there's a review on Daiwa Legalis LT CH, only then I realised that there are many high gear models that don't come i...

It's happened for years they let the piers get in such disrepair that is not feasible / cost effective to repair when they finally decide to do some thing about it. the days of land based pier fishing are numbered, what new piers have been built ? what piers have been lengthened or widened ? where ...

I thought bay piers were maintained by the council, or is that only in port phillip? Also, the newer concrete section is fine, are they only demolishing the ...

Re: Rod Length for surf/rocks

In theory, the longer the better. But also means heavier, harder to cast. Some expensive rods are really good and light though. The steel rod holder kinda sits a bit higher than the pvc pipe, gives extra height. And yes, I personally won't fish if it's too rough. Check the swell height and offshore ...

Re: Rod Length for surf/rocks

Hey mate, I used to use a 15ft graphite Rod, it's a bit better for keeping the line above the swell. A bit of a warning, all the rocks along the GOR are wet, they can be very dangerous, especially at high tide. My advice is to fish the low tides along there, the last 2 hours of the run out tide and ...

Re: Rod Length for surf/rocks

A longer rod helps, as do breakaway sinkers that let you get the line nice and tight to keep it up out of the waves as much as possible. You do find that there's times when it is just too rough for fishing though.

Re: Rod Length for surf/rocks

Rod length for surf fishing is very subjective as it depends on a number of factors as the differences in rods at the longer lengths is quite wide. I use high end English and European rods for the majority of my surf fishing and find rod around the 13' to 14 foot length afford the most versatility a...
