Blairgowrie 15/02

Ventured down to BG on Saturday arriving just shy of 6am. Forecast was for constant rain, high humidity and reasonably strong S/SW winds blowing around 15-20 knots which is the 'correct' direction if you're casting towards the city (non marina side). Rigged up the Emeraldas rod with a Yamashita 3.0 ...

Hi everyone, As the regular members of both trips knew, Drew quietly battled cancer for the last cpl of yrs. He wanted it kept from the forum and didn't want any fuss, though he was unable to attend the last few trips due to treatment. He was the founding member of these trips and the one who got th...

Caught a couple land based 32-41cm Saturday along with a few squid. If the burley doesn't do the trick what can you do. I think after ye...

The Bug gets the fast water trout..

The Bug gets the fast water trout... The weather today was supposed to be fine and windy with rain due later in the day, well it was 2:00pm and the sky was still clear, there was hardly any wind blowing so I headed off for a spin session. This trip was to the upper reaches of the Meander River to fi...

Re: I'm out.

Times like this is when we all need to stick together. The threat that we are faced by effects all of us equally. We all have the same resource shortages, fears, people that we care about and people who care for us. We are all scared, equally. I am an immigrant myself and proudly so, I'd lay my life...

Re: Rust repairs

Are they stainless inserts into the Aluminium? Usually plastic. The Aluminium won't be rusting. it has to be either the stainless or the bolts holding them in. Other metals and alloy are not recommended as they will always corrode. If you have rust you have poor quality stainless and I would get rid...

Re: Cost effectiveness

I was just talking about this with my fishing buddy. Cheap'ish gear that does okay job and may not last long, or more expensive but durable. Note, there's also warranty and stuff. Nowadays they keep making new models every 2-3 years or so. Sage fly fishing and Nitro offer lifetime warranty. Which me...

Re: Fishing tackle technology over the years.

I feel that some fishing tackle catches more fishmen than they do fish. I think that as technology has advanced, we have had some great improvements in a diverse range of fishing equipment. From the density of graphite rods to the shape, colour and uv range of fishing lures, soft plastics and squid...
