Mornington Pier - 9/6/2019
Hi FV community, Got back from a 6 week holiday with intense fishing withdrawal, so headed out to the pier despite the fresh winds. Got there at about 10AM and fished til about 5PM. Really quiet across the entire pier - wind was blowing from the N/NW and the tide seemed to be running quite hard, so ...

Sorrento Pier 22/06/2019
Continuing the donut trend - spent about 3-4 hours on the pier today lol. Fished from about 2PM-6PM with a break between because the tide/current was running hard. At about 5PM a few squid were caught (by other luckier fishos), pretty small except for a great 35cm hood. I'm just a few donuts shy of ...

Fat Squid from Rye - Sorrento Landbased 25-28/07/2019
Went away for the weekend down to Sorrento, brought my gear thinking I'd try to hit up some new spots that I'd never fished before and explore the area. Just got some new tackle - Emeraldas MX 86ML and MX 2508-H-DH reel - so itching to break them in. My last few posts have all been donuts, actually ...

Re: Fat Squid from Rye - Sorrento Landbased 25-28/07/2019
Well done! Good to eat and great bait. What do you plan to do with the squid? I usually eat the hood and keep the head as bait for snapper season. Well we essentially ate all of it - I was planning on keeping the head, but I tend to prefer using smaller heads for bait (since it's more of a hassle t...

oo I reckon it's worth the jump. I went into a store and the emeraldas is definitely a bit thicker, and I just felt like the MX was the way to go.

Re: mornington pier
Was there as well from about 3:30-7PM - plenty of pinkies and flatties, kept 1 of each.
I reckon the landbased fishing will start to pick up in a few weeks once the water warms up.

Re: brighton pier
agree - heaps of toadies around in that area... and they seem to be the ones responsible for chewing off tails. Have switched over from the berkley gulps to the zmans instead because of how often my tails were getting chewed off...

Re: brighton pier
ZMan elaztec stuff prevents your plastics from getting ruined which is a bonus, now I pretty much only use them. Cheers What have you guys done to me :o_0: First I have started reading this lure & soft plastic stuff AND found it quite compelling Now I'm getting the urge to start asking questions Th...
