Garfish Frankston.

Headed out with my old man off Frankston yesterday afternoon hoping for some garfish. At first we planned to see what was around so after sounding up a few fish we dropped the anchor. We managed a couple of pinkies and a banjo before I caught a strange looking eel and after a bit of research I found...

Awesome!
Do you net them at night?
Yes, they are spooked easily when it’s not dark.

Re: First trout of the 2020/21 season...

Great report as usual, and amazing pictures. You're pretty keen to be out there in that weather, and congratulations on the first of the season.

Re: Dargo River

These are the two I took home, caught them on spinners, the bottom one is a rainbow. Spoke to a guy while I was up there who said they are usually around in September, fished all through the day but the best time was morning and evening. I was equally surprised when I caught them.

Re: Nice way to end a spin session..

Re: Photography Thread?

It’s not photography but I used to do a lot of drawing, the skull was from when I was 12 and the trout is from when I was 10. The last one is a picture of my largest trout, from lough Sheelin in Ireland.

Re: Our last furbaby

Really sorry to hear buddy, I know how much it hurts to lose a dog. I think it’s really impressive that she reached 15, and it’s a testament to the care taken of her over the years. I hope you can find peace knowing she’s in a better place.

Re: Land base from the pass

I’ve had decent success land based, although generally in freshwater. Here are some of my best from the last 3 years, and a few from Ireland when I was much younger.

Back in the game!

Managed a little session this afternoon on the kayak, in a local creek. The target species were bream and mullet, although given how long it had been since I had last been fishing, I wasn’t too fussed. So I set off down the creek to my normal spot, soon noticing an unfamiliar fatigue in my lockdown ...
