Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Tried the creek on Thursday, but as is usually the case these days, the Carp were not interested. One by one they would sniff my bait and ignore it. 'Twas a nice day, so I hoped on the train at nearby Glen Iris station and got off at Burnley. From there I cycled to Albert Part Lake. Upon circumnavig...

Re: Yarra Thread

Went again this morning, knew the water would be murky but with the barometer and humidity going wild I thought it’d be worth a shot. Fished around eltham from 5:00 to 8:30 with mainly topwaters. No takes. Saw a small cod right up against the surface at my feet. He wouldn’t have a go at anything. Sp...

Re: Banjo Sharks- The almighty PEST

Land based we keep out burley cages high in the water column helps prevent the banjo sharks and keeps the smaller pest species high above the bottom. They're a plentiful by-catch species and though they are less than ideal for eating they play an important role in our marine ecosystems. Without the ...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Had a mildly productive day down at creek on Monday. Got one fairly early on (within 10 minutes) and had to wait a bit longer for the second one. They both fought well above their weight sending the rod (almost) flying into the water and the reel absolutely 'zinging'. Both headed straight upstream a...

Re: Is Fishing Allowed under newest lockdown measures

Before last night's announcement, I contemplated going to Westlakes for a relaxing bait fishing session for Bream. They generally are small, so it was more for the relaxing "me" time to just chill. I know a few quiet spots, so thought should be good. There are at times another fisho, which is always...

Back to the Upper Coliban

I went fishing at the Upper Coliban on Monday to stretch my fishing legs after the shutdown. Even on a borderline cold day I counted at least eight cars from the carpark and I didn't drive the extra click or so around to the next carpark! It was busy enough so that all my usual spots were taken. I f...

Re: Back to the Upper Coliban

At least you got to wet a line :tu: What was the water level like? Water level's pretty good, 80+% full. I always use the Coliban water website to check the water level: https://www.coliban.com.au/about-us/reservoir-levels That corn is a good trick , , , , works on Bream too :tu: I've also caught R...

Re: Coliban River 30/5/20

Even without fish its great to get out and fish again, plus I didn't know the BP at Carlsrue sells bait; thanks for the news. I saw that the Upper Coliban has had 20,000 Rainbows stocked recently, so there will be a wall of people there soon. I use to fish a hell of a lot where the Coliban river run...

Re: Retrieving Spinners

Do slowest possible but still making the blade spins.
If the blade isn't spinning, means too slow.

Btw, we can never really wind/retrieve too fast. The fastest reel built is still slower than the slowest fish in the world.
