8 Mile Reef - Lakes Entrance
G’day all - long time stalker and now first poster. We’ve been heading out to 6 & 8 mile reefs off Lakes during COVID as Newlands Arm is close to where we live. Mainly targeting pinkies and then flatties closer in. We’ve picked up some good pan size pinkies under 40cm and a new to us species, Morwon...

Long time stalker, now poster
G’day all, Thought I’d better introduce myself as I’ve been in the shadows for a while and just posted for the first time in the Gippsland menu. Upgraded from a Renegade to a more off shore capable boat last year. Have been fishing mainly Port Albert and the islands with the occasional trip outside ...

Re: Any prawns about?
Headed out last night for a couple of hours. Got an ok catch until the wind came up making the little suckers impossible to see. Was ‘land’ based with dip net and light. The water temp felt great after a hot day at work

Re: 8 Mile Reef - Lakes Entrance 22/05/2021
Well, made it back off shore at Lakes today. Cracking weather after a pretty chilly pre-dawn run up the highway with the dash showing -1c for a lot of the journey. Arrived in time for sunrise at Newlands, put in and cruised to the Entrance. Headed straight to 8 Mile past 8 or so boats near 6 mile. H...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
After a false start with the boat today….air lock in fuel line…thankfully still on the trailer and not 2kms from the ramp….we checked Nungurner and Nyerimilang. Not much happening at Nungurner. A few good fish on the sounder that we couldn’t entice. At Nyerimilang we used berley for one salmon…prett...

Port Albert - in and out
We went to Port Albert a couple of days ago to brave the cool mornings. Got to the ramp at 7am and we had the place to ourselves. It was a bit chilly launching but behind the windscreen was quite comfortable. Headed straight offshore as the wind and swell was slight but expected to climb a bit by 1p...

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance
Went out and tried both 6 and 8 Mile on Monday. Very slow for us with no ‘eater’ keepers kept. The usual culprits came up to be released, Gurnard, Sergeant Bakers, Barber Perch. We kept a couple of slimeys for bait and headed in. A quick stop on the flats to see if an early KGW was about…but nope…no...

Re: Lakes Entrance whiting?
Water outside at 15°c, caught a 43cm KGW at 6 Mile. Now bobbing around near the Pines looking for a feed of flatties.
