Re: Casting a baitcaster reel

I worked for a few months in the NT and used a Daiwa baitcaster. I started off not trying to cast too far, kept a bit of pressure on the spool, and gradually increased the distance and the lure weight. As they say practice makes perfect!

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance

Put in a morning just past The Pines and my best catch of Flathead this year resulted - 10 retained with some solid ones and many small ones returned. About 16 m was the best depth. Also kept 2 big Gurnard, threw some smaller ones back, and also managed a small Gummy just over minimum length. The re...

Re: Ending the Season with a bang.

Bloody well done I'd be happy to do that out of a boat let alone off the rocks . And off a 6000 stella. And here's me thinking you were a DAIWA saltiga bloke . Thank you. I also have an expedition 5500 and a 4000 and 14000 certate. Honestly the new certate is an absolute weapon and probably as good...

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance

Last Thursday afternoon hit The Pines area for many baby Flatties, several undersize Sharks, a couple of small Gurnard and lost a decent Gummy beside the boat - so came in at 5.00 pm cold and fishless! Even though I was rugged up even the slight breeze was really cold. Next time!

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance

Half a dozen decent Flathead, a small but legal Gummy and a few Gurnard drifting in close to the beach yesterday. Trolled back in just behind the breakers and managed a few Salmon so the bait/burley supply is stocked up! Fresh Gummy and chips went down well last night.

Clifton Springs 25/05

Just a quick report - fished early morning to about 10am. Overcast/slight fog all morning, near glassed out. Squid slow initially (run out tide), being on the smaller side with better sizes firing up around 9:30am closer to the slack tide. Tried for whiting with the plastics, couldn’t find them but ...

Clifton Springs Bag Out Calamari - 26 May 2024

Hey all, Sharing a quick fishing report following yesterday's success bagging out on calamari within the hour. The weather was perfect, with glass out conditions, a light NW breeze, run-in tide and full sun. There was some surface weed around the 2-3m mark, so punched out to 3-4m casting this slow s...
