Snaps are still biting
I was bored sitting at home so at 15:30 I decided to put the tinny in at paynesville and hit the 6 mile off lakes . I got to my mark at 16:25 and as soon as the first 2 baits hit the bottom they were hit hard and 2 40+cm snaps to christen my new SHIMANO revolution rod which is why I went I got sick ...

Nope not the right way to go about it take it to an aluminium fabrication place preferably one that does marine work and get them to weld it up or you will have more trouble . pop rivets are a different grade of aluminium and that's classified as a dissimilar metal and will also cause galvanic corro...

I anchor out there all the time same area as you have been for decades never lost at anchor yet, I use 6 m of chain helps hold the bottom of a lot better than a shorter length and use a big foam bouy for retrie...

Well I suppose if anybody is silly enough to back into an oncoming wave could be a problem had a so-called open transom and boats for more than 30 years I go out through Lakes Entrance on a weekly basis I've never had any trouble with them and at times by the time I get back to the bar I am saturate...

Any more than 4 mins on a ramp whether you are on your own or whatever the size of boat and you need to hand in your licence and sell your boat .

Anything but aluminium I'm too old to get the s*** beat out of me these days and that includes bar crushes and yellow fins fibreglass all the way 5.6to 6.5 m and a 200 250hp minimum

Metung is the last place with any real tidal flow here in Painesville we get more water height changes due to wind than tidal influence
