Re: Venus Bay/Anderson inlet
We were there a few weeks ago and caught a couple of sambos from beach 4 on dusk. There have been reports of decent fish to 1-2kg around beach 1. We were spinning off the beach using 15-25gm slugs. We did try at the entrance of Anderson inlet on incoming tide and a mate caught one salmon around 1.5k...

Re: Sorrento Pier 22/06/2019
Continuing the donut trend - spent about 3-4 hours on the pier today lol. Fished from about 2PM-6PM with a break between because the tide/current was running hard. In regards to the running tide, try an extra 'chin' sinker attachment on the jig; it works well as at Portsea and Sorrento when the tid...

Re: Fat Squid from Rye - Sorrento Landbased 25-28/07/2019
anyone catching fish? Salmon are around the BG area - in shallow on the beaches, look for the seal and if he's around then the Salmon aren't far behind (or in front I should say). Whambamsam, great choice! I have an Emeraldas Stoist/Certate combo and like you said; you feel everything even in avera...

Re: Fat Squid from Rye - Sorrento Landbased 25-28/07/2019
They vary from 35-55cm give or take a few cm. Most of them are around the 1kg mark so about 40cm + but I have managed a couple of 53cm in the mix, awesome fun on soft plastics/slugs.

Re: Squid squid squid Blairgowrie-Portsea
Good work, I've been hitting BG recently and there's been a consistently decent school of Salmon in the shallows. Early morning and later afternoon for best results.
In saying that, I was targeting squid last week and almost bagged but the last one never showed up.

Re: Squid squid squid Blairgowrie-Portsea
Hi is Portsea fishing good for squid at the moment or should I try Blairgowrie? i am heading down there tommorow👍 I was at BG this afternoon and dropped one, about 2 others caught and one big cuttlefish - all on dusk to last light. Portsea has been slow, a few has been caught but you have to put in...

Re: Crabbing at Lake Entrance
For prawning, the most productive months I've found from shore has been February and March on a new moon. Anywhere around Bullock Island and the boat ramp area will hold them, waders are a good idea as the bigger ones can be a little deeper out.

Re: Squid jigs V Bait skewers. What's best?
I've had more success of jigs and skewered whiting/pilchards in WPB. The problem is depth and how it remains stagnant under a float where a worked jigs, can go over various depths and areas until you find them.

WPB: Close but no Cigar
'Decided to head out on Cup Day like numerous others from Yaringa on one of the hire boats from about 6:30am. I usually target squid and KGW but this time devised a plan to target Snapper and maybe a gummy. The idea was to squid early on and then venture out deep to set up for the tide change around...
