Re: Black rock snapper hunt 9/12

Thanks for the report, a bit unlucky. I haven't got a legal snapper this season either :D was thinking to to black rock, maybe I should go somewhere else, lol. You really tested your gear though pulling 10-15 kg banjo. Yeah, rod and reel handled it well! I think at this point more snapper and pinki...

Black rock snapper hunt 9/12

Got to black rock around 4 pm, high tide at sunset at 8:40 pm went left of the pier 100m down onto some rocks where there was a deep hole Fished that area for 3 hours for nothing, a couple of bites here and there but ultimately kept getting snagged and lost about 3 rigs. Move onto the pier around 7 ...

Re: Squid Jig Opinions!

Id go with Rui jigs instead of Yamashita now but otherwise what Andrews said is probably as good as advice as any. Reclusive mod Poodoo once suggested 4 colours - red, white/glow, gold and rainbow I think. That’s served me really well over the years although I’ve (probably unnecessarily) bought som...

Re: Squid Jig Opinions!

I'll throw my hat into the ring on this one, I recommend owning three colour types depending on the conditions. Light natural colour (white, blue), a darker colour (black, olive) and a brighter colour (pink, orange, green). My go to is: Clear water, full sun = natural light colour, white, pilchard,...

Squid Jig Opinions!

Purchased some new squid jigs, was just looking for some opinions on them really and if there should be any other sort of colours/sizes I should get. They're mainly for fishing ppb and will be primarily used landbased. From top to bottom 1. Green jig with red foil 2.5 2. Yamashita white glow 1.5 3. ...

Re: Beaumaris Squidding 7/12

Sucks that the squid weren't biting! Murky water always makes it very hard to hook up, rough on loosing the jigs! It's all practice finding out where those snag points are and you are bound to eventually lose a few jigs squids fishing. That's just the nature of the sport. Hopefully the clarity impr...
