Re: Plate boat tabs vs brooker vs.....

I was considering a fiberglass but I am leaning towards aluminum for the solo missions.

From the little I have found I think Formosa would take first place. I think they are a little more expensive than tabs new. Get what you pay for I guess.

Re: Plate boat tabs vs brooker vs.....

Thanks Sandef From what I have seen the barcrushers are in a different price bracket. Formosa was the other brand I have seen that was similar. I would consider a pressed hull if there was a particular brand that was nearly as good as a plate boat for stability and ride. Looking for second had I hav...

Plate boat tabs vs brooker vs.....

I have been considering upgrading my 4.3m runabout tinnie for a while now. I mainly fish north ppb and 70% of the time it’s solo. I think I will settle for a 4.8-5.2m plate runabout second hand. I would also consider a cuddy/half cab if the cab is on the smaller side. I like more fishing space and I...

Re: Picking the right boat

Cheers for the advice
All fiberglass boats I have been in have been stable enough.
Just never been in any 4.8-5m aluminum boats.
I think either will be an upgrade from my current.

Re: Picking the right boat

I’ll just keep an eye out and see what’s for sale. Mattblack that stabicraft would be great on the water I’m sure. But I just can’t do the extra $$. My budget has grown to 30k over the last few days..... but I’m possibly dreaming. I also have a height issue with my garage door of 2100mm high. So I a...

Re: Picking the right boat

A quintrex Cuddy does sound ideal. I did look at those boat collars 1 or 2 seasons ago. Interesting and looks like they work well. Not sure if they will be as good in rough weather compared to a total upgrade. If I was happier with my current boat I would go down that path. But I do want some extra ...

Re: Picking the right boat

Cheers Ben and bowl All names I have seen pop up while searching what’s for sale in the area. Just not sure if I should go for the easer aluminum for launching and retrieving on my own, or the glass for some extra weight and stability but have the boat ramp solo mission when by myself. I would say I...

Re: Picking the right boat

Thanks for the reply I have heard about the polycraft and seen the rentals around. If a second hand one popped up I would consider it for sure. I’m not necessarily after the most stable option. Just wondering if the 4.8-5m aluminum boats are a lot more stable than a 4.3. Or do the top dollar quintre...

Picking the right boat

Hi guys I am on the lookout for a second hand boat. I currently have a 4.3 aluminum runabout. No complaints I’m hoping for 4.8-5m. Do different brand boats have better stability at rest? Most al boats are runabouts... I was hoping for a Cuddy cab. There’s only a few al that have a glass cab , which ...
