With the wind finally dropping of this afternoon and also having some sunshine I shot down to Merseylea to see how things were on the Mersey River. Look very small and I reckon they're just about dead too. Need to start taking a quick photo and practise a bit of catch and release especially with fish that size. Didn't say if he kept or released the small Cod either, certainly hope it was released.

That's tough, know exactly what you're going through too. Done it twice myself I have two piece trout rods now, peace of mind and cheaper on the pocket in the long run.

I mainly use the clear mono here in Tassie's rivers and also the brown (in Tannin water) and they've worked okay. Not sure on how the fluorocarbon's go in freshwater as I've never tried them, have seen plenty of others with their reels spooled with it though. So it must work okay. I'll stick with wh...
