Re: Building home with the big builders (Henley, Metricon, Simonds etc).

It's simple if you have a good supervisor and a set of good trades you may get a good job. But it also depends on how much a supervisor is allowed to pay for good tradesmen. Most of the stickers your talking about the tradesman takes them off if he thinks the defect is not that bad.If it were me bui...

Re: Building home with the big builders (Henley, Metricon, Simonds etc).

One thing I can recommend you do is opt for dual power outlets in each room. And as mentioned already get an independent building surveyor to inspect at each stage. X2 more power points and b4 keys r handed slowly go thru house putting stickers on defec's. Grab few mates to help go thru house. Putt...

Re: Spec list for older boats? (Edencraft 2001 565 sports)

Does anyone know where I could find spec lists for my boat? It's a 2001 Edencraft 565 sports (just purchased). I called Edencraft but they said they don't have any information on these older boats and an online search isn't showing up anything. If anyone knows where to find old reviews etc that wou...

Re: Building home with the big builders (Henley, Metricon, Simonds etc).

I build for myself now days but used to supervise for a couple of those majors. All those that you mentioned have got good processes in place to build a quality home but the reality is the finish of your home will be determined by the supervisor looking after your build. If he cares and is one the b...

Re: $100,000 question.

It is certainly not a bargin. Brand new around 120k from edencraft 6m. Around 100k for a bass strait 6m. Not quite 120k, more like 110. A fully decked BMT 565 with a 175 is 92k. Can someone clarify the cost of a decked out new EC 6.0? Is it 110k or more? I'm hearing its way more than that but haven...

Re: $100,000 question.

The thing i don't understand with a rebuild is how can you be assured of the quality of the build? As opposed to a new build from a reputable boat builder company that comes with warranties. Just curious as I'm not experienced in this but from my understanding it seems you'd have to be insane to co...

Re: $100,000 question.

I am thinking reef runners are the new value for $$ boat. 6.4m, BMT package, semi hard top, 200hp for around 100k brand new. Not quite the ridability as a Haines/EC/Coota, but them old Bertram shaped hulls and still nice a soft, maybe better at rest too. Really good all round fishing platform witho...
