Glenelg river - surprised sighting

I went to portland over the xmas holiday break, but didn't catch much. Combination of not good fishing technique and not knowing where to go. This was my first trip to the area and thought i would share that i sighted a seal swimming around with a fish in its mouth at sapling creek, glenelg river at...

Re: McLoughlins Beach

Hi pinkz Thanks for posting the info about mcloughlins beach (varied dates and times). Your posts have persuaded me to consider a one day fishing trip to this part of the world tomorrow. Never been there, so don't expect too much fish catching. I was wondering if someone can give me some help on the...

Re: Lakes entrance - prawning / fishing

Hey there Fyi - best time to go is new moon (not full moon). Ideally after moonset. Warm nights (ie: not cold days when wind coming from south) makes it a better proposition. Haven't been prawning at the lakes in the last few years, but i have tried some of retyred's yellow lines places about 4 year...

Re: Lakes entrance - land based fishing and crabbing suggestions

Hi everyone Just thought I’d give an update on my weekend in Lakes Entrance. I didn’t do any fishing on this trip, so can’t help people much, unfortunately. To give some context, my weekend was 2-3 days before the full moon. 1. Managed to catch some crabs in Bullock Island. Both the reeves landing j...

Re: Hi everyone, finally leaving the shadows into the newbie lite

After so much time shadowing in the forum, I intend to post more often, depending on whether I actually can get out to fish!

Re: Lakes entrance - land based fishing and crabbing suggestions

Hi re-tyred and everyone else, many thanks for your posts and tips. Anything involving boats is a no-go for our travelling party. Is it better to go crabbing in the morning or evening? Does the wind direction or weather temperature play a part in catching crabs? Or just tides only? Any suggested bai...

Re: Lakes entrance - land based fishing and crabbing suggestions

Hi everyone, thanks for your post. Am i able to catch crabs from the barrier landing jetty (it's not private)? Also, where can i hire a water taxi from? Is the north arm worth fishing at this time of the year? Will be staying in that vicinity on the lakes entrance side. Are there any crabs around at...

Lakes entrance - land based fishing and crabbing suggestions

Hi everyone In 2 weeks time, i will be heading to lakes entrance for a very long weekend. :) Never been at this time of year and am going with people who have never been fishing or crabbing before. Would love people's thoughts on the following: 1. How is the land based crabbing this year around lake...

Hi everyone, finally leaving the shadows into the newbie lite

Hi everyone Finally plucked up the courage today to post for the first time. I'm Patty and enjoy fishing from the land. I've been a stalker on the gippsland forums over a number of years and done a few fishing trips to the wonderful lakes. Just want to thank everyone for their tips over the years. P...
