Re: Any sambos off the surf yet?

Never targeted them, but now keen to have a go land-based - med-light gear, so realistically slugs up to 25g and placcies. Might ever try poppers.
BTW, the freakiest thing - pedalling over a bust up, it's like a rain from underneath - a school just came through under me :o_0:

Re: Clifton Springs Calamari - 2/06/2023

Unreal, I went yesterday arvo @ Mordi pier on rising tide - clear water, perfect conditions... but nothing, others struggled as well.
Will try again but a bit later in the day.
Can't wait to yak again, Mordi pier fishing is somewhat limiting and gets busy too - not just with fishos.

Re: A report about...nothing!

Reporting three snagged squid jigs over the last week, and it seemed ideal earlier today, but they didn't want to play @ Mordi pier.
Perhaps it's the adjustment to the winter land based fishing I'm enduring?

Re: Clifton Springs Calamari - 17/05/2023

Good info. That means in shallow water they prefer depth than weed cover. :tu: Yeah absolute, they'd only have 30cm max depth over the eel grass on the lower tides so it'd make sense! These N wind have made for dirty water for about two weeks now, no squid unfortunately! Going to find out if northe...

Top score! These are still ~$13 where I buy my stuff.
And my "local" would have these at double that 😅

Re: Tackle Store Recommendations - Melbourne Area

I can't recommend my local one - I'd rather buy online.
They can have their "advise" and RRP +25% "sale" pricing. Or the crap they import and sell as premium.

Re: Freshwater rod - land based

What's your budget? Open water (lake) or river/streams? Get 7ft+ for lake fishing and shorter than 7ft for rivers and streams. 2-4kg is versatile, but I'd go even to 1-3kg. A lot more fun and easier to cast ultralight lures. 2000 reel and 4lb-6lb line. Depends on your budget, there's plenty of opti...
