So ended up at Sorrento, paddled back and forth between the ferry pier and blairgowrie marina on the hunt. Dropped 2 good sized squid, and couldn't really find the whiting but ended up popping my KGW cherry - 35cms.
Ended the session with 7 squid, fishing from around 8-1:30

Re: Donuts at Mt Martha
Hey crew. Had another go on Saturday. Up before 6am and off to Mt Martha. Nice and quiet and isolated so no problem keeping my distance from anyone. Bit windier with a light southerly, and overcast so a little less pleasant than last time. Wife was with me, she lost a jig in the reef there somewher...

Looking for whiting from the Yak
Anyone had any luck lately? Went chasing a few weeks ago around Blairgowrie with no luck ~ just had the one squid and the usual plague of pinkies, couple of flatties. Landed 1 small spotted/slimy mackerel which was nice.
Looking for a spot to drift around in tomorrow morning if anyone has any tips!

Re: Mt Martha - 14/01 - Kayak
Well done! Not the species you want but hey gotta be happy with those flatties and squid. The big snapper is a bit harder in mid summer usually. Try mussel farm or oyster farm, cant remember exactly. In Mornington. Heard of consistent pinkie/snapper there. I don't know where it is though, lol. Laun...

Mt Martha - 14/01 - Kayak
Went out early in the morning, aiming to be on the water by 6. Plan was to chase some snapper with some squid/soft plastics, then head in for squid/whiting. Launched from the south end of Mt Martha beach, and paddled about 3.5km out to about 20m of water. Heaps of bait fish schools passed along the ...

Re: Snapper + Whiting trip
For snapper, maybe mt martha. Start early morning with the high tide. Rye for squid and whiting, they can bite anytime. Check the wind and tide. Mt martha can get a bit rough. I think rye has less tidal movement, but can be crowded being its still school holiday. Either way, good luck! Yeah - I wan...

Snapper + Whiting trip
Thinking of heading out Tuesday morning for some snapper and depending on how that goes, come back in to chase my first KGW. I was thinking of launching from Mt Martha and paddling out to 18-20m, then turning back for KGW towards the weed beds. Alternative would just be to head down to Blairgowrie/R...

Re: Kayak Reds
I fish off Mornington quite a lot too. Last few weeks seem to have slowed down a bit but I still got a few 30-40cm today. There's an app called Boating HD by Navionics with depth charts, use that to find the drop offs and you'll find the pinkies. I think I have the same fish finder as you (Hook2 4x...
