Re: Advice Needed - Float Fishing Lilydale Lake
Thanks all, much appreciated. I will give it a try and report back to you. I've fished the lake a couple of times before and had no luck, so can see why many say that it's a challenging venue to fish.

Re: Advice Needed - Float Fishing Lilydale Lake
Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my initial post. I'm targeting roach and any other small fish near the margins, be it redfin, small trout etc.

Advice Needed - Float Fishing Lilydale Lake
Hello all, I'm planning to try my hand at float fishing Lilydale Lake, and was wondering if anyone could advise on the appropriate rig setup. I have some split shot in sizes 0 and 1, some size 10 'baitholder' hooks and a couple of thin waggler floats. At what length would you normally have the point...

Re: Private Dams and Lakes
Thanks guys, @rb85, have you been paying to stock other people's dams with fish in exchange for the right to fish them? I'd be curious to hear more about that arrangement if that's the case. In theory a group of people could create a syndicate where all pool their funds to create a private fishery. ...

Private Dams and Lakes
Does anyone have their own dam or private lake? I'm curious to know:
1) What was involved in setting one up;
2) How big it is;
3) What species fish you stock,
4) Costs in setting it up, and
5) Any pitfalls to be aware of or tips you have
Cheers

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
I've tried a few times since my last post, but no luck unfortunately. I experimented with a berley mix of stale bread, wheat bran, oats, corn all mixed with some water, but I'd recommend throwing a berley mixture out at a time, or in a section of the creek where there aren't many ducks. I'm not sur...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
I bought a set of feeders which should arrive in the next week or so. The type I bought are the 'method' feeder, which are a bit different from the cage type in that you place the baited hook and berley in a single mould. I'll report how I go with them in due course.

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
I've found the cooler weather slows the Carp down a bit - I love smashing them in hot weather. The humble running sinker accounts for 90% of my catches, 15% with a small bubble float (particularly in summer)and the rest is probably just experimentations...freelining, single hook, paternoster, etc T...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
Hello all, First time posting on this forum. The last few years I've mainly focussed on fly fishing, but have taken to fishing the creek/lake section around Glen Iris. The first couple of attempts I managed to land a decent carp each session, but no luck today or yesterday. The lake area seemed clea...
