Re: Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

I went to Bar Crusher in Dandenong this afternoon and spoke to one of their team who showed me over a 575C. Wow, what a beautifully made boat. The only problem is that it is too small for my needs. Standing beside it, the boat looks like it's the right size and its cabin is perfect in size but the a...

Re: Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

Hi Frozenpod, Yes, I've looked at the Extreme boats and even had a lengthy phone conversation about them with a fellow at Inverloch Marine, their Australian distributor. Like most of the fishing boats that come from New Zealand, they are almost works of art - the standard of manufacture seems way ab...

Re: Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

Hi Frozenpod, Thank you for your advice. Of all the boats I've looked at, the Bar Crusher appears to have the highest standard of manufacture, so kudos to them for having pride in their work. On the flip side, the Bar Crushers I've looked at (575 and 615) seem so much smaller than the other craft. A...

Re: Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

Hi Sandef, Thank you for your ongoing input, it's much appreciated. I won't be transporting 4 people and towing the boat at the same time - that's simply not going to happen. Most of the time it will be just my wife and I fishing or, the pair of us and our youngest son. On those rare occasions when ...

Re: Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

Hi Sandef, Yes, Trailcraft are now made in China and I'm not mad-keen about supporting Chinese industry. Having said that, I've heard from a couple of sources that the quality of the fabrication is just as good as it was when they were made in Western Australia. A work colleague of mine has a Trailc...

Re: Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

Hi Sandef,
Gee that was quick! The Kluger has a towing capacity of 2 tonnes so it should easily tow any of the boats I've nominated. Do you have any particular reasons for preferring the Bar Crusher? Thanks in advance.

Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

Hi everyone, I want to buy my first fishing boat and I have been doing a lot of online research. I hope to buy a very good second-hand boat - one's that's been babied. The more and more I read and listen to, the more and more uncertain I'm becoming. I'm going to buy an aluminium boat because I want ...

Re: Reel Recommendations

I have a few different types of reels in 2000-2500 size, including a few Stradics, a solitary Ci4 and a couple of Daiwa BG's. I love each and every one of these reels and service them, myself, with Yamalube grease (inside), Daiwa oil and Cal's reel drag grease. I wipe them down with Inox on a rag. S...

Re: Help on line weight

Here's my 2 cents worth, mate... Selecting an appropriate line weight is dependent upon a few things. The first thing to consider is what size fish you're targeting and, then, consider what sort of reputation they have for fighting. The next thing you have to figure out is where your target species ...
