yes, i have just seen it on the vic fish ruler sticker, southern rock cod.
i probably should have known, it had a big cod-like mouth.

I don’t mind eating them, they have a mild flavour and soft flesh. Nothing special but worth a try.

Eaten fresh and cooked on a high bbq they are enjoyable. Also deep fried in batter are good too.
Do not freeze them EVER
They turn mushy

They have to be cooked with a special method.
Wrap the whole fish in foil, bury with coals and hot rocks. Leave for half an hour then recover the fish, throw it in the bin and eat the rocks.

I don't mind rock cod ... I also eat wrasse on occasion, I am a superior cook though ...
