I'd have to agree with Truedogz on Strike tiger plastics. The bug type plastics and the T-tails in black and gold have caught me plenty of trout here in Vic and in the Snowy mountains. Also the Ecogear MX48 is my go to hard body in the natural colors.

Another interesting lure from the past was the Devon - even with a keel on the line a major problem was line
twist. They were a good small stream lure though and came in floating and sinking versions.- Truedogz

Re: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROUT LURE?
Paul, you can still get devon spinners. Yep, they are buggers for line twist. They were sold as pairs by some manufacturers as left and right hand spin. You swapped them over after a while to reverse the line twist.
My dad and uncle used to cover their devon spinners with eel skin and I've heard other old timers talk about this trick being effective. Later, plastic coated devons appeared and I still use them occasionally:

Other spinners like celta are pretty good at twisting line unless a keel is used and even then it doesn't seem to completely stop it.
It is easy to get sentimental about old lures and some of the new lures are better than the old ones. For example, the blue fox spinners are better than celtas. I'd still rate the old Mitchell double bladed spinner as the best trout spinner of all time.
For most of the old lures there are modern equivalents available. The big exception is the floppy - there is nothing like it around today.
Best Wishes

Re: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROUT LURE?
Strike pro baby arch back in deep red in tiny 1m wide - 20cm deep stuff upgraded with super light and sticky hooks
Lucky craft slender pointer 67MR in brown trout for in medium streams
Daiwa double clutch 75 black gold in deep fast running rivers
Daiwa td minnow 95 and 120 for lakes where decent casting is required
Also in lakes 4” or 5” flash j shads or keitech easy shiners with 3/0-4/0 hooks in 1/4-3/8oz weights for casting big plastics as far as you can.
Keen to troll some big double clutch 95 black golds around some lakes for trout when I get a chance.

Re: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TROUT LURE?
Mepps Aglia & Black Fury lures are my favorites (as if you guys wouldn't know ) this season will be my 55th year of using them, each season 90-95% of the trout I catch are taken on them.. the other 5-10% are taken on small hard body lures..
cheers
