If you remove that grommet I don't think you will not use anymore water than previous. You will have the taps opened that much less.
If you have put on one of those water saving heads as such, remove that grommet and you will be having the best of showers...

And the Moral of the story is??

Get the Professionals to look at it

also take those grommets out and you will use a lot more water than normal, its there for a reason!

That's un-Australian! Might cost you twice as much as getting a plumber, but at least you can say you fixed it yourself!

Worse case scenario is that you buy a set of new taps (you might have buggered them by wrenching them tight instead of replacing the washers)

unaustralian hah!! its called being smart hahaha
what if you can never fix it yourself??

I bet you're one of those guys that reads instructions before you give it a crack as well...for shame!
Seriously though, has anyone else noticed tradies charge more per hour than a brain surgeon these days?

Nah manuals never get read ever.
And I generally try to diy unless it's electrical or gas. And couple otger stuff where I wouldn't want to cause problems.
I said call the pro is because smiley is generally working most times. So it's probably the easiest way out. But he is generally handy with diy so its up to him.

If you can fix it should try lol
Plumber quoted $100 call out fee plus $80 per hour min of 30 min work even if fixed in 5 mins.
So cost $ 180 plus parts of $2 for a 5 min job.
