Bellarine Peninsula
Bellarine Peninsula
Gday all, Merry xmas and happy new year!
Mums recently moved down to St Leonards which i couldnt be happier about!
Heading down for a few days with a good mate who's getting right into the fishing, again, couldnt be happier
Just looking for some advice on land based in the area.
I recently fished St Leonards boat ramp for a few undersized salmon, and in Queenscliff for a small flatty and a few wrasse. Went to St Leonards pier during the day and there was people jumping off the pier all over the place.
The plan so far is to fish Portarlington breakwall during the day for whatever swims by, and hopefully a feed, and to fish along the beach in queenscliff at night in hope of a gummy.
We have a couple of 10ft surf rods, 2 7ft medium outfits & 2 7'2 light outfits.
The plan is to fish baits off the breakwall and also flick around some lures, tackle bag is chockas, plastics, vibes, slugs etc. and to fish off the beach with some eel we caught during the week and possibly with fresh salmon.
Done alot of reading and scoping out areas on google maps, any extra advice would be awesome.
Tight lines lads.

Re: Bellarine Peninsula
Got down to st Leonard's late in the afternoon.
Went to check out portarlington breakwall around sunset.
My mate forgot his light setup, so he used a medium 7'2 and was casting slugs around, I used a light setup and fished small plastics and vibes to no avail.
After a good feed at home (thanks mum) we packed the car and went out to st Leonard's boat ramp and then down to the pier.
Put out a burley bucket, and a couple of bait rigs on the bottom. As my friend was telling me how he wasn't feeling it tonight, a huge bust up, head torches on, and there was a huge school smashing in front of us.
my friend brought his rig in, and went to grab a lure....which were all at home...
My mate desperately ran to his van in search of a metal, while I tried to make a bait rig look like a plastic of some description.
My friend lost a fish after it wrapped around the bucket, and I scored one whipping my bait lure thru the school.
Scored a couple of flatties hopping the bait lure 5000 around the sand flats and we called it a night.
After some very average filleting, and some questionable cooking techniques, flatty was served at 5am.
Tonight we search for the gummies!
