Covid-19 discussion

Post by re-tyred » Sat May 09, 2020 7:00 am

Ok where do I start.
As you will notice the "when will we go back fishing" thread has been removed and one member received a 7 day ban.
It was my decision to remove the thread after it once again escalated into personal attacks. While there were a number of people involved who came close to getting a holiday after discussion with the other mods, Stumpjumper was given a holiday for the last post he put up. The others, take this as a warning.
Discussion and debate is great, but emotive and insulting comments and attacks are not needed and always end up pushing someones buttons , sparking an outburst.
Please by all means continue to debate things of interest to the fishing community. Please do not target people personally for their opinions.
Targeting a politician or a party with insulting names etc is uncool and will usually cause an angry response from others. Lastly if someone says something that stirs you up, take a deep breath, and either ignore it, or make a measured response without swearing and insulting.
remember we may meet face to face one day and would you say some of these things to each other?
Cheers Mike

Hi mike and the other mods,
I hope you get lots of good karma when we return to fishing. You deserve it for the amount of crap you have had to put up with over the break.
Remember FV members, this forum doesn’t exist without the mods and they have repeatably asked for ‘cool’ in the covid19 topics, so think of them and the work they do and cool it.
Perhaps the next person banned gets a bonus week as well? You have all had enough warnings.
Cheers.

Don't post made up numbers.

Don't use words you don't understand.

Don't post an opinion posing as a fact and expect it not to be contested.

Consistency - we had huge crack down when Mr snapper head started moderating---- now well his not around much.
I think a lot members were confused by tightening of rules for some n not for others...

While i agree with this 100% i think the best advice was posted by re-tyred... "ignore it". When somebody is continuously posting something and can not be reasoned with there is no point just going back and forth for weeks. Its a fishing site, we should all know about being baited.

I am absolutely not going to ignore the spread of blatantly, intentionally false information which is often worded maliciously.
