Most of this crap is coming from countries that ****** up their own response to the virus (looking at you USA), and need someone to blame for their own failings lest they look silly in front of the voters.

China didn't exactly cover itself with glory to begin with and neither has the WHO, but we've known since January that this was likely to be a Big Deal and even then most places did nothing to prepare.

I mean if ending the country's ability to borrow money for the foreseeable future is your thing, I guess we could.

Bottom line is we have to develop a new normal to live with it for the near future, so the norm has to be some sort of palatable and functional norm that the public is on side with, and part of. Not going to happen if you just feel like inmates on parole.

Well we've got enough debt now to bury your kids and probably their kids too....so maybe borrowing more money will not be a good idea for a while.
