I agree with Chris. THe other thing I have found is that they bite better where there are bends in the river. I guess more bait pools in these areas.

Better off with a boom-stick tbh. 12 gauge should do. I always sight fish and never catch them in the Yarra, even fresh worms aren't working. Maybe try some plastic and other rubbish as bait?

Thanks for the great tips guys. I know that early and late are good, but is it worthwhile fishing thru the middle of the day? Probably cloudy would be better than our present clear hot days.

two and a half hours on the Yarra tonight using corn and worms, but not a single bite for the session.
May try agian tomorrow, hopefully will have better luck

Where were you? Keep trying other spots until you find some action. Got no action on corn but caught a fair bit on worms last Tuesday night.

Was up at Wintons reserve in Wonga park. will probably go back there tonight but try a little further up river

Just out for a fish, anything on the line would be good. Taking one of my daughters tonight, and they lose interest fast if nothing is on the bite.

Try the back of the veneto club in bulleen with worms. Caught a tonne of eels, carp and maccas as well. Good luck.
