Re: Saltwater Vs Freshwater
Hard to choose, each has its own good.
Salt for a feed and fish fight harder.
Fresh for a bit of adventure. Walk hike fish bushy places finding pristine waters for trout.

Saltwater ruins all your gear.
Freshwater has smaller, tasteless fish compared to saltwater.

Fresh - scenery, adventure, can drink it, accessibility to quality fishing not always dependent on a boat

Re: Saltwater Vs Freshwater
For a lot of people the answer would largely depend on proximity, surely. If you live a couple of hours from the nearest stretch of shore or estuary, but have a decent river or lake nearby, then would seal the deal.

Good question MATTBLACK i don't favor one or the other,so 50/50 i suppose.Camping and fresh water fishing go very well together especially eating your catch by a campfire in the evening. I did both as a kid so now you are reminding me that i need to plan a trip to Murchison or Eildon that i have not done in years.

Re: Saltwater Vs Freshwater
I enjoy both equally to be honest. This season I hope to get the fly rod out for trout and bass, fish lures for bass and maybe do a trip or two to northern vic for cod.
Saltwater I love too squid whiting gummies and snapper close to home a short drive for lure fishing for EPS and some great offshore sport fishing.
Fisherman who limit themselves are missing out. I want to do as much as I can and think I’m capable.

Re: Saltwater Vs Freshwater
Must say I prefer Salt Water and do almost all my fishing from the kayak as most here know
of cause I fish for all the local species in the bays - Whiting - Gummies and others - we also head north and have done South West Rocks - Scotts Head and Coffs Harbour
last trip pulling both a long tail Tuna and Cobia onto the yak was a buzz and hard to match with any fresh water species
going to try to get more Off Shore in both here in Vic and up along the NSW coast in the near future -
