Fishing Around Winchelsea? - Any suggestions?
Fishing Around Winchelsea? - Any suggestions?
Hi folks,
I'm heading down to Winchelsea Sth next week for a few days R&R with the partner and our 2 dogs.
Taking the rods with me of course.
Any suggestions as to where to wet a line around there? I see Wurdiboluc is near there, but I've never fished it. In fact I haven't fished anywhere around there at all. I don't mind whatever fish are around - just hoping to land a few and maybe get a feed. (legally of course)
Oh - and the dogs won't be with me when fishing, so it's just myself and out to brave the elements ..... brrrrrr
Cheers
Neil

Modewarre and mudeduke are also close by not sure how well they are fishing give trellys tackle in Geelong or drop in on your way there to pick up bait.

OK - Thanks Nude Up.
I'll try and drop into Trelly's on the way to see what they can suggest.
Cheers

Modewarre is dry and Murdeduke is almost dry...Wurdebuloc is known as the lake of a thousand casts for good reason but you will catch redfin if you persist.
Good luck with the fishing and the weather

Thanks Canned_Tuna for the advice.
I'll be taking a couple of rods - one for bait and one for lures. I guess anything red will hopefully attract the reddies. I might try and get a few scrub worms and dangle them under a bubble float and then try on the bottom if that doesn't work.
Wouldn't mind a couple of reddies for a feed.
Thanks
Neil

If all else fails there is lots of carp in the Barwon river where the princess fwy crosses over it. A mate and I had fun sight casting to them as they basked in the sun at the surface
Re: Fishing Around Winchelsea? - Any suggestions?
It would have to be as LAST resort to try for carp - but thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated

It was the last resort for us, purrumbete blew out, while I stopped for a coffee on the way through my mate went for a walk and spotted the carp so we spent a couple of hours there

Too right. I’d rather have some fish on then no action for sure.
