Squid were very quiet yesterday at welshpool according to a few who chased them all day, which I found very, very surprising.

Interesting that it seems to be a common theme all over Vic

Friday night I fished out of a mates boat around altona 5pm until 11pm where we normally pick up squid easily, we got 3 between us in 4 hours, and another mate on a boat didn’t get any in 3 hours it was very unusual given water clarity was around 3-4m

EDIT: I also spoke to a bloke at the altona boat ramp before we launched, he said he fished all day for one squid

I agree with matari, I have as well.

Outside of dirty/murky water and rough water , , , , I have caught squid in full sun, overcast days, cold & hot days, morning, noon, night etc etc. Obviously there are better times than other times but generally they can be caught anytime , , , , I think

BUT why they aren't caught on some days , , , , who knows

But one thing is for sure , , , , you can not catch squid sitting at home , , , , any day is always worth a cast

Cheers, Bug
