good few days at loch sport

Post by Matthew drako » Mon Apr 15, 2019 10:24 pm

Hey all,
spent Friday to Sunday at loch sport camping and fishing and it didn't disappoint...
On Friday we arrived at the campground, set up, then hit the surf beach (a 5 min walk) to try for a few salmon.
Fishing started slow and managed only one through the first 40 mins as well as a big mullet. As soon as the tide started to run out the action started with a salmon a cast and even a few big mullet mixed in. Managed around 30 for the 2-hour session with the average being around a kilo and the biggest pushing 3kg's (the biggest I've seen for a while).
The next 2 days saw similar action with 10-15+ caught in short sessions. The next few sessions also saw a few tailors to 2 kg's caught.
Best bait for salmon was half pilchards(salted)
The mullet were mostly caught on pipis or with 1 or 2 on small bits of pilchard casting not very far out just into the wash.
would definitely recommend if you are after a feed or after some shark bait.
Note: all fish were caught and released

Big mossies are used for whiting bait.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.
