First rod and reel setup - all rounder (budget friendly)
Hi everyone,
First post here :water:
I'm about to get back into fishing after a good 17 year break!
I'm after a good all rounder rod and reel combo for the boat and pier, mainly fishing for the flattys and snapper etc basically anything everyone else would say is the usual go to fish.
Preferably after a good bang for buck combo, where would you recommend to shop?
Thanks, Bryce.

Depends how much you are willing to spend. My first combo years ago was a $45 combo 7ft from Aussie Disposal and a pack of estuary tackle set (hook, sinker and all).
I outgrew that pretty quick though.
Spend as much as you can for the moment. Don't need to go to the high end. As in, you don't want to drive a Ferrari if you are a learner driver.

take this catalogue (https://www.bcf.com.au/catalogue#view=c ... QLD&page=1) to your nearest tackle store and see if they can do better. Try and stick to a small setup that will cast soft plastics, squid jigs and of course baits (you'll be able to target more species) Should be able to get a decent combo that will last you for ages for $150

BCF, Anaconca or a tackle store should have what you need.. 6' 6" or & 7 ' rod should do.. KMart also has cheap Jarvis Walker combo set ups..
You should be able to pick up something nice if you prepared to spend $150-00 & it will last longer than the cheaper KMart outfit.. depends on how often you intend to go fishing too..
cheers

Re: First rod and reel setup - all rounder (budget friendly)
You can get decent combo with that price range, so it depends how you want it.
If you are a beginner, i suggest a fibre glass material like those Ugly Stick rods. Spin rod 7ft long and around 5kg rod class. Get a 2500 or 3000 sized spin reel.
If you are confident, then get a graphite rod. 7ft long 2-4 kg spin rod class with 2500 spin reel.
As mentioned by others, BCF and Anaconda and any tackle shops should have variety of them.

Hi Bryce,
:welcome: to the forum mate!
Like many of the others have mentioned BCF and anaconda have some good combos for sale when the sales are on.
I have purchased plenty of good combos in the past from both those places for a very budget friendly price
