Once a jolly fisherman settled on an Ocean Pier

Under the shade of an overpriced Council Shelter. 

As he sang as he watched his Squid Jag going up & down

You'll come a casting a Squid Jag with me

Casting a Squid Jag, Casting a Squid jag.
You'll come a casting a Squid jag, with me.

As he sang as he watched and waited 'til that Squid was jagged.
You'll come a casting a Squid Jag, with me

Along came a Squid and grabbed his Aussie Squid Jag, 

Up jumped the Fisherman and grabbed his rod with glee,
As he sang as he landed that tasty Calamari Squid
You'll come a casting a Squid Jag with me.

Casting a Squid Jag, Casting a Squid jag.
You'll come a casting a Squid jag, with me.

As he sang as he put, that Squid in his fishing bucket.
You'll come and have a Squid dinner, with me

I always bought Squid Jigs!? Are Squid Jags a new lure?

No Brownie, "Squid Jags" are the old name for what we have come to know, as the modern day " Squid Jig". In my endeavour to keep to the theme of Banjo Patterson and the era that Waltzing Matilda was first written and published, by Banjo, I undertook extensive research so as not to lose that "Banjo Patterson" feel of his marvellous poems & ballads, to my adaptation called "Casting a Squid Jag". In doing so, I discovered that there is a clouded period where Historians are in dispute as to when the "Jag" started to be called the "Jig". Banjo Paterson (1864 - 1941) lived during this time which is in dispute, hence, I thought to keep true to his writings and not derogate his reputation by using the word "Jig".

It is widely believed, and the only theory that was published in "Southern Fisher's Alliance" as the proposed metamorphosis of Jag to Jig, is Colonial Settlement influences. Not that the Colonialists wanted the name change, but with the combination of European & Eastern settlement, it has come to be called the "Jig".

Mmm, personally I think you searched your butt of to find a pic of them called " jag" as a save. And the rest is bull like your post of not being able to afford this or that a few days after a post with expensive bottles of Bourbon in it that you drink. You made that statement, not to let me know what you think of me but more so, to let other members on this forum know what you think of me. Otherwise you would have sent me a personal message and not used a "public platform" to do so.

The irony of the situation that seems to have beset you, is quite fitting. You made that statement, derogating my integrity and character (which I find to be "rude and a poor attitude") on a Topic titled "Be a proud Aussie", triggered by my "jovial" comments in a post I made involving a great Australian, Banjo Patterson.

In saying that, I draw your attention to your comments in a post on the topic titled “Not having permission to read something". Your comments in that post, by way of a reply to a post by Born2fish, about "rude and poor attitude", was advice.

Your advice to Born2fish was "You can learn from it, take it on the chin in the good old Aussie tradition". Brownie, I’m giving you, your own advice, “You can learn from it, take it on the chin in the good old Aussie tradition”
